Homeward LA

Homeward Live

Homeward Live is an online series hosted weekly, every Thursday night from July 16 to Aug 13, in which professional actors perform true stories from individuals who have been homeless. Taking place on Facebook Live at www.facebook.com/homewardla, each episode will showcase one story, followed by a live and candid conversation with the real person whose story has been told. Viewers will experience the power, the humanity, and in many cases, the humor of these stories, and have the unique opportunity to hear directly from people who have experienced homelessness first-hand.

Homeward Live aims to unite the community to address the homelessness crisis in our country. By raising awareness, funds, and our voices, we will help build a future where everyone has a place they can call “home.”

Information

By sharing stories from people who have experienced homelessness, Homeward LA inspires the community to take action toward ending the homeless crisis.

Since its debut in 2018, Homeward LA has staged 80 productions of monologues based on real stories from people who have experienced homelessness. Adapted for the stage by professional writers and performed by professional actors, Homeward LA has brought these stories to thousands of people in the community, reminding them of the humanity of those who have been homeless. With the help of roughly 1,000 volunteers (including hundreds of actors), Homeward LA has raised more than $180,000 for a nonprofit on Skid Row that provides shelter, food, education and more to LA’s homeless population.

Some of the actors who have performed these pieces include:

Alfre Woodard (12 Years A Slave)
Cheryl Hines (Curb Your Enthusiasm)
Lamorne Morris (New Girl)
Jon Huertas (This Is Us)
Adam Rodriguez (Criminal Minds)
Jeremy Sisto (FBI)
Wilson Cruz (Star Trek: Discovery)
Lil Rel Howery (Get Out)
Rick Gonzalez (Arrow)
Natasha Rothwell (Insecure)
Ione Skye (Say Anything)
Jeff Ross — event host (Comedy Central Roast)
